Reading's inconsistent season continued this weekend, after a 7-1 home victory over Bolton was swiftly followed by a 0-2 defeat at Ipswich Town. It was Ipswich's first win of 2014, and saw them move up to 2 points behind Reading. The Royals remain in sixth place. Despite the defeat it was a reasonably even game with the two sides sharing possession and chances in front of goal. After a goalless first half, the home side improved as the game went on, scoring just after the hour mark and wrapping up victory in injury time at the end of the game. Reading did have chances to score, with Williams having an impressive game and forcing a great save from the Ipswich goalkeeper in the first half. Jobi McAnuff also had a strong penalty claim waved away by the referee after being taken down inside the box.
