Reading picked up a valuable point from a tough opening fixture as the 2014/2015 Championship season got underway at Wigan. Cummings' first Reading goal was an effort from outside the box, while Reading's second saw a clever free-kick headed in by Morrison after Pearce headed back across goal. New signing, from Nottingham Forest, Simon Cox made his return in a Reading shirt, coming off the bench to replace Ryan Edwards who earned a start after impressing in pre-season.
