Business As Usual At Blackburn

It was business as usual for Reading this weekend as they let in three goals and slumped to another Championship defeat. Last week Reading put an end to a run of seven games without a win in League and Cup with a 3-0 home victory over Blackpool. That scoreline suggests an emphatic victory, but the Royals were far from convincing and needed an own goal with twenty minutes to play and a last minute Blackman penalty to secure the win. This weekend Reading were soundly beaten again to make it just 5 points from 8 Championship games. However, Reading were very much in the game at half time after a decent first half showing, and it was only in the second half they fell to pieces.

In what is quickly becoming the regular pattern for Reading this season, they started brightly and could have been ahead early on. A Norwood corner was met by Glenn Murray in the middle whose header hit the crossbar. Instead of Reading building on that start the home side took the lead on 17 minutes when Federici was beaten with a header. Murray opened Reading's scoring against Blackpool and was again on target for what felt like a very important goal just before the break. Jordan Obita supplied an excellent cross, that did all the hard work, giving Murray a simple close range finish to make it 1-1.

Federici made a couple of good saves at the start of the second period before he was beaten by an impressive Blackburn free-kick. Reading failed to respond this time and some shoddy defending allowed the home side to wrap it up on 68 minutes when Gestede scored his second, making the most of a rebound, to make it 3-1.
