Reading striker Dominic Samuel has completed his loan move to Coventry City. Coventry are just outside the League One relegation zone in 18th place. Twenty year old Samuel, a product of the Reading academy, will stay with them until the end of April 2015.
Samuel has been on Reading's books as a professional since the summer of 2012 but has made just two competitive first team appearances for the Royals so far. His Reading debut was way back in December 2012 when he replaced McCleary with just under twenty minutes to go in a 0-3 defeat at Sunderland. The Royals were already two goals down at that point and Samuel hardly managed a touch of the ball before his side let in a late third.
His opportunities at Reading have been very limited and he had to wait until this month for another appearance. Earlier this month he came on for Danny Guthrie with 13 minutes left on the clock, during our 1-0 away win at Huddersfield in the third found of the FA Cup.
The move should give Samuel the chance to gain more experience in a career that includes a total of just five games so far. His progress has been limited so far after having surgery on his knee. Samuel's loan departure might add further weight to the reports that Steve Clarke is still looking to bring in a forward player before the transfer window closes on Monday night.
Samuel's other loan spells have seen him play two matches for Colchester in January 2013 and a single game for League Two Dagenham and Redbridge in January 2014. His appearance for Dagenham and Redbridge was cut short after forty minutes and he failed to appear for the rest of his loan spell due to his knee injury.
