Reading impressed as they cruised to a 2-0 home victory over Sheffield Wednesday. The Royals were two goals up before half time thanks to a header from Pavel Pogrebnyak and a goal from loanee Nathaniel Chalobah. Reading could have won by more, and really should have, after man of the match Pogrebnyak earned a second half penalty which saw Hal Robson Kanu's tame effort saved by the Wednesday goalkeeper.

Reading's last home game was a 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough and, after three games on the road, Reading certainly looked up for this game from the start. Cox was back in the starting eleven alongside Pogrebnyak and Norwood found himself on the bench. Cox was quickly involved as he looked to make the most of his recall forcing a good save from the visitor's keeper. On 29 minutes Kelly provided the cross for Pogrebnyak to head home and eleven minutes later Reading scored their second when McCleary was the provider for Chalobah to volley home his first Reading goal on his home debut.

It wasn't all one way traffic with Federici needing to make a good save in each half but it was a very comfortable win for the Royals who dominated the match. The win, Steve Clarke's second league win since taking over, relieved the pressure on the Royals who find themselves back up to 16th in the table.
