Jem Karacan has agreed a new contract with Reading Football Club that will run until Summer 2015. Jem has been a perfect role model for youngsters in Reading's academy programme having started out as a youth player at Reading nine years ago. Since then he's broken into the first team and established himself in the starting eleven making well over 100 appearances in the process.
Brian McDermott was reported to be very happy to secure Jem's ongoing services: "...he's been an integral part of what we've been trying to do... He's a great lad who is very much one of our own and we're really pleased that he has signed a new deal."
Of course it was only just over a month that superstar goalkeeper Adam Federici was rightly rewarded for a superb season with a better deal and a new contract to keep him at Reading until summer 2015. Let's hope this new deal for Jem doesn't see a similar blip in form and conflicting news of minor knee injuries...
