Reading manager Brian McDermott has forgiven Danny Guthrie after the player made a full apology for refusing to travel up to Sunderland for Tuesday's 0-3 thrashing. Guthrie, who has already had other off-the pitch incidents criticising the club management, apologised to McDermott and then followed it up by facing up to the entire squad before this morning's training session to say sorry.
McDermott wants to move on: "We can all put this to bed now. Every person in life makes mistakes and Danny apologised to all of his team-mates and the staff in a group meeting... We have 22 games ahead of us and together as one unit we can achieve our goals for Reading Football Club and for the supporters." It will be interesting to see if Guthrie makes an appearance on Monday night as Reading face Arsenal at the Madejski Stadium. Guthrie was due to play, or at least be on the bench, for Tuesday night's game - so you'd assume if everyone is "moving on" he'll play a part.
