Left back Omar Richards has signed for German side Bayern Munich after failing to agree a new contract with the Royals. His contract expires this summer so he will join the German champions on a free transfer. Although this was always expected to happen as his contact ran down it is a big blow to see such a huge talent depart the club. It is disappointing he wasn't tied down on a longer contract before the season just finished even got underway. After making 34 appearances in the 2019/2020 season it was obvious he was a huge asset and would go on to bigger things.

Richards had been at Reading since 2014 when he joined the Academy and is another Academy success story after working his way into the first team and then becoming a first team regular during last season. He made his first team competitive debut during the first game of the 2017/2018 season coming off the bench on the hour mark. His first start then came in November 2017 at Reading were 4-2 winners at Derby. That season he went on to score two league goals and leaves after making over 100 appearances for the Royals.

Richards has signed a four year contract with Bayern Munich.
