Player of the Season 2014/2015

The Player of the Season voting should give real cause for concern. At the time of typing during the close season (24 June 2015) only two of the top six players remain at the club. Adam Federici has been voted Hob Nob Anyone? Player of the Season - but he has already departed to Bournemouth after the end of the campaign. Federici was a deserving winner after an excellent season in goal for the Royals - and Reading will struggle to find a suitable replacement. Loan players Mackie, Chalobah, and Murray all feature in the top six players and have all left Reading FC for good. Only Michael Hector who finished runner up with 19% of the vote and Gareth McCleary (5%) remain on Reading's books - for now at least. The voting mirrored the results of the 2014/2015 man of the match voting with the same top three in a slightly different order. Federici picked up 5 man of the match awards across the season, Mackie got 9 and Hector picked up 6.

A Federici 39%
M Hector 19%
J Mackie 13%
G McCleary 5%
N Chalobah 3%
G Murray 2%
Others / None 19%

Most Improved Player 2014/2015

The Player of the Season voting was quite well spread, but the Most Improved Player of 2014/2015 was a massive victory for Michael Hector. Hector won the vote by a massive 57% from runner-up Jake Cooper. Both players enjoyed real break through season's in the centre of the Reading defence. Cooper also acheived at the other end of the pitch, knocking in goals when we couldn't rely on the strikers. With Pearce departed, both players will be set for a big part in the new season.

M Hector 72%
J Cooper 15%
P Pogrebnyak 4%
A Federici 3%
Others / None 6%

Best Reading FC Performance 2014/2015

If you take the FA Cup run out of the 2014/2015 season then you're left with a very forgettable period in Reading's history. Reading's history semi-final appearance against Arsenal at Wembley takes the top spot by a clear margin. Our quarter-final win over League One Bradford City at the Madejski is third in the final vote count. League matches made up less than 30% of the total voting. Our best league performance was on the final day of the season - an impressive but rather pointless 3-0 victory at Derby County to stop Derby reaching the play-offs. There weren't many other games that featured - really those three games were as good at it go, and one of them was a defeat.

2015-04-18: Arsenal 2-1 Reading (FA Cup) 53%
2015-05-02: Derby 0-3 Reading (Championship) 19%
2015-03-16: Reading 3-0 Bradford (FA Cup) 14%
2014-09-13: Reading 3-0 Fulham (Championship) 3%
Others / None 11%

Worst Reading FC Performance 2014/2015

Plenty to choose from in this category! As a result the voting was very widespread with so many disappointing Championship showing to take your pick from. The resounding winner was the game that Nigel Adkins will remember so well. The 1-6 hammering at Birmingham City saw Adkins given his marching orders. Things didn't improve at all in the League under new manager Steve Clarke though. Despite Adkins taking charge of half of the season, Clarke see's three games under his charge in the top four. Those three games were all home defeats to nil. Very poor times at the Madejski Stadium.

2014-12-13: Birmingham 6-1 Reading (Championship) 44%
2015-02-17: Reading 0-1 Wigan (Championship) 16%
2015-02-10: Reading 0-2 Leeds (Championship) 6%
2015-02-28: Reading 0-3 Nottm Forest (Championship) 5%
2014-10-04: Brentford 3-1 Reading (Championship) 3%
2014-08-23: Nottm Forest 4-0 Reading (Championship) 3%
Others / None 23%

Next Season 2015/2016 - Where will Reading FC Finish?

Traditionally this is the part of the vote where the optimists seem to rule. If you're a regular reader of the Hob Nob Anyone? forums you'd think all Reading FC supporters expect the worst - but it appears not. Last season 60% of the vote thought we'd be midtable which was roughly right - although only 11% thought we'd be "safe - just". This time around the figures are similar but definitely a shift towards less expectations. However only 7% think we'll go down - while 12% think promotion of play-offs are on the agenda - madness! If the pattern follows through expect Reading to be hovering around that magical 21st in the table position.

Midtable 59%
Safe - Just 22%
Beaten in play-offs 7%
Relegation 7%
Automatic Promotion 3%
Promotion via play-offs 2%
