Team news |
Reading will be without Adi Viveash in the centre of defence after he picked up a booking as the Royals went down 1-3 to York City in the FA Cup Second Round replay - after a challenge on York's Hulme who was sent off in the first tie for a foul on Viveash. Adi may have had his revenge over Hulme, but the suspension rules him out of this game meaning we'll probably see a central defence pairing of Hunter and Mackie. Reading - from: Whitehead, Newman, Mackie, Hunter, Robinson, Caskey, Smith, Parkinson, Cureton, Rougier, Butler, Hodges, Igoe, Howie, Gurney, Jones. Millwall - from:
Warner, Lawrence, Ryan, Dyche, Dolan, Cahill, Ifill, Reid, Livermore,
Kinet, Moody, Sadlier, Harris, Gueret, Neill, Nethercott. |
Form Guide |
Unsuprisingly, with Millwall top of the table on goals scored, Millwall have one of the best away records in the second Division. Away from home the Lions have lost just three games, drawn two, and won an impressive seven - scoring a decent number of goals, 22, in the process. The reason the side are top is because their home form is just as good with eight wins, a draw, and three defeats. One of the rare home defeats came last week when Millwall went down 2-3 at home to a 90th minute goal from Notts County. Before that Millwall pulled off an impressive 6-1 victory over Colchester on Boxing Day. Millwall's last two games away in the league have seen a defeat and a win, losing at Rotherham but beating Bournemouth - inbetween that Wycombe knocked Millwall out of the FA Cup. Mark McGhee became manager of Millwall on the 25th of September 2000 - his first managerial post for nearly two years after being sacked for turning Wolves into an average Division One side from promotion candidates. Since then he's managed six defeats and six draws out of his 25 games in charge of Millwall. The London side are currently top of the second Division but were put out of the FA Cup by Wycombe Wanderers in round two. |
Previous Meetings |
Millwall have just about had the advantage over the Royals going back
through history with four more wins in competitive fixtures: Last season we managed to beat Millwall by the same scoreline at home,
but were soundly stuffed 0-5 away from home: Also in the Second Division, during the 1998-1999 season, Reading won
four points off the Lions with a home win and a decent point taken away.
The home victory was another 2-0 win - it would be good to repeat that
this time round to make it three straight 2-0 home wins over Millwall: |
Match Odds |
Reading are favourites for victory - but only just. Reading's
home form has been impressive despite the odd poor result on the way.
With the number of goals we continue to bang it at home and with this
being such a big game it's very tempting to stick some money on a Reading
win. |
Predictions | It's going to be tough that's for certain. However, we always
do over McGhee's teams - so a 2-1 victory for the Royals with a couple of
late goals seems likely. What do you think? You can enter your Prediction on-line within the Hob Nob Anyone? Prediction League - and also be in with the chance of winning up to £150 worth of Reading FC vouchers. |
