Team news |
Wycombe's starting eleven is likely to include on-line Manchester United youngster George Clegg - who could start up front. Clegg could also feature on the bench as Wycombe look to put out the same team beaten 0-1 at home by Port Vale on Saturday. Keith Jones will be available for selection again for the Royals but will have to fight for his place with new signing James Harper who made an impressive debut on Saturday. Adrian Viveash and Ricky Newman are both back in the squad after serving suspensions on Saturday - both players could make starts. Reading - from: Whitehead, Robinson, Newman, Viveash, Hunter, Whitbread, Murty, Parkinson, Caskey, Harper, Jones, Cureton, Butler, McIntyre, Rougier, Hodges, Gurney, Howie, Mackie. Wycombe Wanderers
- from: Taylor, Vinnicombe, Harkin,
Cousins, Bates, Townsend, Bulman, Essandoh, Castledine, Simpson, Ryan,
Clegg, Brown, Lee, Brady, Beeton. |
Form Guide |
Reading are currently leading the Division's form table. Saturday's win means Reading are undefeated in eight league games - the Royals have gone from outsiders to favourites to grab second place in a matter of weeks with an amazing six wins from seven league games - taking 19 points from a possible 21. Wycombe will have their minds firmly on Saturday's FA Cup quarter final
with Premiership Leicester City - as a result they might not be too interested
in this game. Wycombe are stuck in midtable - and their poor recent league
form means there's no chance of them going up this season. Sanchez will
be looking for a shock FA cup performance on Saturday rather than a shock
win against the Royals with any luck. |
Previous Meetings |
With Wycombe Wanderers being non-league until recent history, there's
not much competitive history between the two clubs. However, Reading fans
will be pleased to know that Reading have won five of our eight encounters
in the league and the cups. Our only FA Cup meeting came back in the 1976/1977
season - with Reading 2-1 winners at Wycombe's place. In the League Cup
Wycombe put us out over two legs in the 1996/1997 season. Our league meetings over the past two and a half season have seen four
wins for the Royals and a single win for Wycombe Wanderers - who can forget
out 3-5 stuffing at Adams Park last season? Although, I do try and forget
that one. 2000/2001 Season: 1999/2000 Season: 1998/1999 Season: |
