Reading go into Saturday's fixture with their pride intact after battling
back in difficult conditions to earn a well deserved draw at Bury. If
truth be known both players and manager probably feel aggrieved to have
let the winning sequence come to an end! Still hopefully any anger resulting
will be taken out on Notts County, certainly after the mid week results
Reading should not need any encouragement with Bristol City, Brighton,
Stoke and Cardiff all winning. Another victory and the Royals will be
a step closer to promotion and this fixture could be crucial to the championship
race as Reading have a tough few weeks ahead of them where the match against
Stoke could settle the desires of either side. Reading know all about
Caskey and with the pace of our attack and the improvement of our passing
game I think Darren will find it tough to impress. Pardew has signed another
attacker which many fans may frown at especially as earlier in the season
it was the mid field we were most week in. I still like the idea of Gamble
taking possession of the midfield and doing a youthful Mick Gooding like
roll, although Gamble is quicker than Gooding. Still Gamble's time will
surely come and with Jones suspended perhaps it will be on Saturday. should
be a good gate, supporters drawn by old affections for Casky whilst the
expectations are rising for a championship style finish to the season.
Be professional Lads, don't let Casky have a sniff and take the chances.
Prediction 4-1 to Reading with Rougier getting at least one goal if not
two. 'Take each game as it comes,' That is the usual saying for the football
fraternity. Nobody connected with The Royals cannot have looked at the
fixtures that are on the horizon. Two local derbies, both away from home,
and two games with your main rivals in the promotion stakes. The sequence
however starts with a game against a relegation threatened side, who have
some good individuals apart from Caskey but can't get it together as a
unit. Nine or ten points from the five games would secure our position,
but it is imperative that we start with a win on Saturday. We need to
get on top of them early and sap their confidence. I also think that we,
the fans, have an important job on Saturday. Pardew has made his feelings
known about the atmosphere when things are not quite going right and it
is up to us to make a lot of noise in support of the team. We were devastating
in the first half at Notts County and a repeat of that would be wonderful,
but I expect that it will be harder work! |
