Team news | Reading will roughly stick to the side that took a 4-0 half time lead
against Wrexham at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night. However it's likely
we'll revert back to a 4-4-2 with Parkinson returning from a slight injury
that kept him out mid-week. Martin Butler, in amazing form, could pair up
with either Jimmy McIntyre or Jamie Cureton up front with the other back
on the bench. Bristol
City could have top scorer Tony Thorpe back in the team after returning
from injury, elsewhere Amankwaah is out injured after being replaced at
half time during their draw at Millwall on Tuesday night - leaving contention
for his place in the squad. Reading - from: Whitehead, Robinson, Viveash, Williams, Newman, Murty, Caskey, Jones, McIntyre, Cureton, Igoe, Butler, Hodges, Gurney, Parkinson. Bristol City - from: Phillips, Carey, Bell, Millen, Murray, Tinnion, Rodrigues, Peacock, Beadle, Hulbert, Thorpe, Brown, Clist, Jordan, Malessa. |
Form Guide |
Every time I write this Reading's form has got even better. We've been the most in-form side in the Division for weeks now and keep following it up with more high scoring home victories. On Tuesday night we beat Wrexham 4-1 after being 4-0 up at the break - the first half performance was something special from the Royals. Reading's last three away matches were the unfortunate 0-1 defeat at Peterborough, the 3-1 win over Rotherham and the 1-1 draw at high-flying Wigan. Bristol City may have only scored 9 goals all season - but they've only
let in 10 which is less than the Royals! Still, Reading have a habit of
hitting goals past tighter defences than this one. With Reading second
in the table we'll definately be on the hunt for a win against a Bristol
side placed 20th, however the table doesn't tell the whole story. City
are unbeaten in their last six league matches which have included impressive
away draws at Walsall (0-0) and Millwall (1-1) - two results Reading would
have been very proud of! City's last home match was a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth,
and before that a 1-1 draw with Colchester. If City had converted just
a couple of the draws into wins they wouldn't be half as far behind the
Royals. This could turn into a real test. |
