Team news | Reading Team: Pick any from: Whitehead, Hoiwe; Robinson, Polston,
Viveash, Williams, Hunter, Mackie, Gurney; Parkinson, Caskey, Newman; Forster,
Hodges, Henderson, McIntyre, Igoe. New signing, midfielder Ricky Newman is expected to make his debut as a contracted player. Southampton are expected to bring a near first choice eleven - probably with a few young or squad players to make up the numbers. So we should get a half decent game. |
Predictions | We always beat Southampton (well, apart from last season's 0-3 defeat which I still refuse to remember despite being reminded) in these pre-season friendlies, and this time around we're on the back of a 3-0 win at Torquay last weekend, and a 4-0 stuffing of Crystal Palace at their training ground mid-week. There will also be plenty of Reading players out there fighting for a place in the side for the start of the season. It may be a friendly but Reading will want to win this one. The sun will shine, and Reading will score three in front of a crowd that could be as big as 8,000 - all happy to be back at the Madejski Stadium for the first time in months. How nice. |
