WAP - What's
It All About?
Somebody
somewhere tells me WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol. Basically
if you have one of those new fancy mobile phones that can be used for the Internet
then you can access WAP sites through it. A WAP site offers a limited amount
of information on a tiny little screen, so not as good as all the information
you can get through the web - but handy for all the latest information while
on the move. The good news is there is a dedicated WAP site for Reading Football
Club fans.
Reading
FC WAP Service

Currently
there aren't many WAP sites out there because there's not a massive number of
WAP mobile phones in use out there. So the Reading FC WAP site is a small site
launched in May 2000 as a trial service. When the site was launched there was
only one other football club in the whole country to offer this service (QPR)
- as far as we know. The Hob Nob Anyone? WAP service features the latest
news pulled directly from Hob Nob Anyone? and pumped out onto your mobile.
The site also includes the latest results and fixtures - rather handy if you're
on holiday somewhere abroad without access to any other source of Royals news.
Give
Me More WAP!
If there's enough demand then we'll expand the WAP service. If you'd like more
of Hob Nob Anyone? on your mobile these please let us know you're using
the site by dropping us an email at: wap@royals.org
The site is located at: http://www.royals.org/wap
Enter that into your WAP enabled mobile phone, as a bookmark,
and dial in for the latest Reading FC news.
