Royals Complete Yakou Meite Signing
29 July 2016
By Hob Nob Anyone?
Reading have completed the signing of young French player Yakou Meite from Paris Saint-Germain. Meite continues Reading's import of European players and signs on a three year contract. At just 20 years old he makes sure that Reading retain a very young first team squad ahead of the new Championship season.
Born in Paris, Meite has been at PSG since he was 13 and has worked through the academy there before making a single late first team appearance in stoppage time in April. With first team opportunities limited at PSG he has made the move to England and will take squad number 19 with the Royals. His parents are from the Ivory Coast and he has featured for the U17s (scoring 1 goal in 5 appearances) and U20s (4 appearances) for his parents home country. He is primarily a left winger.

PSG offered him a 3 year contract, Palace and Middlesbrough offered him a deal, Leicester supposedly interested and we've beaten them all off. Presumably a combination of being able to offer first team opportunities + Jaap Stam? Appears Tevreden has done us well here on first impression.
On his twitter handle he calls himself "La Brute" and Yakou Meite translates to Frank Marsh... Yakou "La Brute" Méïte aka Frank "The Bully" Marsh.
Sounds like someone we'd have signed in the 70's/80's

Very positive especially if we've beaten off PL teams to catch him. HIm and Swift look like great additions. Some of the others, rather less so.

Any idea who the translator in the club video is, is it his agent? Is he linked to the agency Stamm is with?
He has good media training (in French), - the translation was a bit loose. Let's see if he takes English lessons
He describes himself as pacy, strong and direct who likes running at players, taking them on in one on ones, crossing and scoring goals
Let's hope he's an Aneka rather than a Manset

We certainly could do with a defender but then I don't think our defence last season was actually that bad, they were just badly exposed by getting no support from the midfield.
It was the lapses that let us down badly. I do hope JS persists with Cooper. He's still learning and I'm sure he will get better, its whether he's given time.
