Royals Look For Four In A Row

Reading will be looking to make it four consecutive wins tonight as Millwall visit the Madejski Stadium for Championship action. The Royals have picked up three straight wins in League and Cup, without letting in a single goal, and continued the run in some style on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Fulham. Reading looked very comfortable against the Cottagers with Glenn Murray marking his debut after arriving on loan from Crystal Palace with two well taken goals. After heading home a goal in each half, thanks to the excellent service of left back Jordan Obita, Murray might well have claimed a hat-trick if he hadn't been replaced by Pogrebnyak just after the hour mark. Murray and Obita weren't the only ones to impress in a great team performance with Norwood getting singled out for his excellent cross field passes. It looked like the kind of football Adkins dreams of, and the recent additions seem to lend themselves to the style of play.
After so much uncertainty in the close season and during the transfer window things seem to have settled down and Reading have a great opportunity to build on what now appears to be a solid start to the new season. Although many players are still on that long injury list some key names are starting to filter back into availability for selection. Suddenly Adkins is spolit for choice up front with Pogrebnyak back from injury and Blackman and Murray grabbing the goals at the weekend. Reading are up to ninth in the table, while visitors Millwall are two places above the Royals but on the same points. After a good start Millwall have lost three out of their last four games, including a 2-0 away defeat at Ipswich on Saturday.
Reading will be hoping for a continuation of their excellent recent form against Millwall. Reading have lost just once against Millwall in the last 14 meetings. That single defeat was way back in August 2004 when we lost away by the single goal. Since then we have picked up six wins and three draws from the last nine games. The aggregate over those nine games is 19-6 to Reading. Our last meeting was a 3-0 away win with Pogrebnyak, Pearce and Williams scoring the goals last February. Our home fixture last season saw a 1-1 draw with a last minute Millwall penalty cancelling out Morrison's early goal.
